After dating BOTH...Here is what I have in the way of advice!
Here is the best advice I can offer after having dating both genders...
1. Learn to love YOURSELF first. You might be thinking: I already love myself. But honestly, no you don't. When was the last time you went for a walk with yourself and just thought about what you want out of life or even out of a partner? Seriously...Do that BEFORE you dive into dating.
2. Be careful about who you decide you should meet up with. Some of these people online are freaky! Some people in real life are creepy...
3. If they say they are bipolar, not to be mean to that community, but if your NOT, be VERY VERY careful. Stalker freaky types...Had a few bad experiences there!
4. Don't change yourself for anyone...
5. Don't be afraid to break things off if your not feeling that spark for the person. You might say "Well, I am just too nice to do that..." well, don't be! Grow some ovaries and dump them!
6. Don't let ANYONE control you. Not your parents, not the person you are dating, NO ONE!
7. If looks matter to them more than who you are inside, then end it RIGHT AWAY. Most men are this way. If your HOT, your in! They will keep you forever. They would rather have a hot girlfriend now than a smart one later. Their loss because the smart ones are the ones who can support them if they get laid off from work, they are the ones who will still love them even when the dude needs Viagra, I mean...Come on! But honestly, men are pretty shallow.
8. Just let it happen. I have learned this from experience. I have been an idiot and wanted to rush things, but seriously, just let love happen!
9. If you two don't have the same goals, morals and values, it's not worth it. Put them in the friend zone ASAP. I had a date who was on welfare, poor as dirt, had no real goals in life and it just felt wrong to me to even consider dating her because I am totally looking for someone who is looking to get a REAL job, who has GOALS, and who would like to travel with me in the next two years. I told her I was sorry and it was OK for us to be friends and nothing more.
10. Talk about who is paying for what on the "date" in advance if you are going with a WOMAN. It just makes things much simpler.
11. Make sure you know your dates allergies...I found that out the hard way! Poor boy was allergic to fish and I had eaten sushi right before...Well...Yeah! Anyways, that was awhile back...
There you go!!! My best advice to all of you!!! ;) Good luck!!!
